Gordon has served as Organist and/or Director of Music at Northfield Parish Church and Ruthrieston West Church in Aberdeen, and at Stonehaven Dunnottar and Fetteresso Churches. He has wide experience of playing the organ at weddings, funerals and church services and began his organ recital career with concerts with the Inverurie Choral Society (Acorn Centre, Inverurie, 12 December 2015) and at St Machar’s Episcopal Church in Bucksburn, Aberdeen (22 January 2016).
Gordon continues an active musical involvement in church life, being currently involved with developing the use of music in worship at Portlethen Church.
He is a member of both the Aberdeen and District Organists Association (ADOA) and the Incorporated Society of Musicians (ISM).
In May 2023 Gordon was guest recitalist at the Friends of Forgue Kirk series of concerts, presenting a recital of music by J.S. Bach and Healey Willan.
Gordon was pleased to be asked to record organ music for the SPECTRA light festival in Aberdeen in January 2024 and a sample of his playing was broadcast outside of St Nicholas Kirk on Aberdeen’s Union Street during this festival (www.spectrafestival.com).
